10 April 2025
The KNOWSKITE-X Project was proudly represented at the 5th EMMC International Workshop 2025, held from 8–10 April at TU Wien, Vienna. Project partners Albert Sabadell (IDENER) and Franz Rohrhofer (Know-Center) actively participated in this leading event, which gathered experts from academia, industry, and policymaking to discuss the future of materials modelling, data integration, and sustainable innovation.
During the workshop, Sabadell and Rohrhofer presented a dedicated poster and delivered a contribution talk to showcase KNOWSKITE-X’s approach to accelerating materials discovery through advanced modelling, characterisation, and machine learning. Their contribution emphasized the project’s role in building a materials and data ecosystem aimed at supporting the design of next-generation energy materials, in line with the workshop’s core theme: “Accelerated Innovation and Sustainability by a Materials Modelling and Data Ecosystem.”
This participation not only strengthened the visibility of KNOWSKITE-X within the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC) community, but also reinforced key connections between data-driven innovation and sustainable industrial impact. The discussion at EMMC 2025 highlighted how initiatives like KNOWSKITE-X are already contributing to the digitalisation of materials science and are preparing the ground for more FAIR, interoperable, and efficient knowledge-sharing platforms.
We thank the organisers for hosting this fruitful exchange and look forward to continued collaboration across the materials modelling and sustainability community.
